Life is a puzzling thing. So much time spent questing for the meaning within when you could just as easily conclude that it has no meaning at all. People will tell you the meaning is personal, others will tell you its a fundamental law given from Him upon High. There are those who believe in the abstract and those who believe in the practical.
Where are we to take our place amongst this? This is not a question with a definite answer but one which is constantly shifting, metamorphosing from one possible answer to the next.
Some would argue that the asking of question is more important than obtaining an answer. I would place myself amongst that group.
The endeavour to find meaning in life requires that you understand exactly who you are. That isn't to say the meaning of life is an inwardly looking, personal meaning but to make sure you are aware of all hidden bias that you may use as a filter against the harsh light of reality.
Only once you have the knowledge of yourself can you cast an inquisitive eye over the rest of the world.
To me the large scale of life is completely devoid of meaning. The minute scale of effect in comparison to the vastness of the universe renders all meaning asunder. How can I hope to come across the meaning of Universal life when my scope of knowledge is so limited? How can my life have any meaning when it is representative of a infinitesimally small percentage of energy, matter and reactions?
The meaning is derived by learning to separate the Macro from the Micro. On the large (macro) scale, I can have no effect and thusly take no meaning from it. On the small (micro) scale have as much capability as any to change the world. It is this life, this earth that I can have an effect on. It is this life, this earth that can have an effect on me. The Universe for all its vastness, for all its microwave radiation and endless array of stars is a redundant aspect at this point in our time, as controllable and understood as the heavens themselves.
It is at this point where I come to believe there is no universal meaning to existence. As everybody is different so are their reactions to stimulus, when a constant stimulus can provoke an infinite number of possible reactions how can everybody be grouped into a singular meaning?
Once I more I step forwards from the void in an effort to bestow upon the world the honour of my thought and observations. There is no remit to what shall appear on this page but hallowed will its words be nonetheless. Prepare yourself for the truth of lies.
